Meet Dr. Riolo

Christopher Riolo, DDS, MS, PhD

I believe that orthodontics has the ability to make an unbelievable difference in the lives of my patients. It is my goal to provide the highest possible level of orthodontic care, and to make each of my patients feel welcomed and well cared for. I feel fortunate to have such a wonderful career, working with such an amazing group of people.

Education and Continuing Education

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1993. I completed my orthodontic training and received my Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. I also have a PhD in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.

I believe that the knowledge necessary to create beautiful smiles is gained through a combination of education, practical experience, and dedication to lifelong learning. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. I am also a member of the following organizations:

  • American Association of Orthodontists
  • American Board of Orthodontics
  • American Lingual Orthodontics Association
  • Michigan Association of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association

Family Life

I have been married to my wife, Burcu, for seven years. We have two girls, Mina and Banu, ages four and two. I have been a pilot since high school and enjoy flying, sailing, and skiing in my spare time.
